Visakhapatnam: The State government has taken over liquor outlets as a first step towards total prohibition. Under the new policy, the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) opened liquor outlets in the district.
The APSBCL opened 296 shops in the city. Some are yet to be opened, the officials said. The revenue from liquor is expected to come down because of limited number of outlets.
The officials said they would close any shop if there are any complaint. The shops will remain open between 11 am and 8 pm. A supervisor and two salesmen have been appointed in each shop.
