Visakhapatnam: CBI begins probe into 'attack' on government doctor
Visakhapatnam: The CBI team commenced its investigation into the case of anaesthetist Sudhakar, taking statements from the suspended government doctor, his mother Kaveri Bai and son Jatin along with others at the Government Hospital for Mental Care.
The CBI registered a case of alleged assault on Sudhakar by the police. Based on the statement issued by the doctor to the District Magistrate, the CBI registered an FIR and booked a case against police officials and public servants under various sections, including 120B, 324, 343, 379 and 506 IPC.
Meanwhile, Sudhakar mentioned that he had lost a bike, car keys, two mobile phones, Rs 10 lakh cash and his ATM cards. Based on that, IPC Sections involving theft were also added.
CBI also took note of the cases registered by the police against the doctor.
On Saturday, a media conference was held at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in Visakhapatnam. The suspended doctor's mother alleged that her son's life is under threat and that he was admitted to the Government Hospital for Mental Care by force despite his sound mental condition. She demanded that her son be shifted to another hospital. Further, she said that her son has no political connection. However, she added, he was branded as TDP person and hence being targeted. In the garb of treatment, Kaveri Bai alleged that her son is being administered medicines that are actually working as a 'slow poison'.
Earlier, Sudhakar had filed a petition in the High Court seeking help to shift him to another hospital as he has been administered wrong medicines leading to side-effects.
