Visakhapatnam: Common marmoset monkeys released in enclosure at zoo

Visakhapatnam: Focusing on the theme 'Sustain all life on earth', Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) celebrated World Wildlife Day here on Tuesday. A rally was taken out on the occasion, involving schoolchildren. Chairman and Managing Director of APEPDCL S Nagalakshmi, IGZP curator R Yesoda Bai, zoo doctor P Bhanu Babu, assistant curators K Uma Maheswari and M Raja Rao took part in the rally.

A pair of common marmoset monkeys received from Alipore Zoological Gardens, Kolkata was released into the renovated marmoset enclosure in the zoo. "It is the first time the marmoset monkeys were released in their enclosure. We received them as a part of the animal exchange programme from Alipore Zoological Gardens," said Yesoda Bai.
