Visakhapatnam: ECoR urges not to walk on tracks
Visakhapatnam: In a step to avert accidents, East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials have appealed to public not to walk along the railway tracks. With some of the migrant workers reaching their native places walking along the railway tracks, the ECoR appeals to them not to walk on the tracks.
Meanwhile, passenger trains have been suspended due to COVID-19 outbreak, but goods and parcel express trains continue to operate on all the railway tracks to maintain supply of essential commodities across the country.
Recently, Shramik Special trains have also been commenced. Keeping this in view, walking on the tracks is being strictly prohibited.
ECoR is running an awareness campaign through every medium to educate people not to walk on the railway tracks. This apart, awareness programmes are also conducting in the division limits.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Waltair, G. Suneel Kumar said walking on the railway tracks was prohibited and also punishable offence under Section 147 of the Railways Act. People can inform RPF security helpline number 182 if they come across any person walking near the tracks.
