Visakhapatnam: Ensure all eligible get pension: Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao
Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has instructed the officials to take necessary measures to ensure that all eligible persons in the district receive pensions.
VMRDA Chairman Dronamraj Srinivasa Rao accompanied by the Minister held a review meeting on the distribution of pensions, land pooling and preparedness for coronavirus with the revenue, GVMC and district authorities on Monday.
Speaking to media after the review meeting, the minister instructed the officials concerned to conduct a survey to prepare the list of eligible candidates for pension by February 15 on war-footing. Currently, 4,08,457 pensions were given every month in the district wherein Rs 98.40 crore being spend for same. The new pensions have been granted to 38,771 persons since February.
The land acquisition for poor under the housing scheme should be completed with immediate effect, Srinivasa Rao informed.
District Collector V Vinay Chand said that the authorities were conducting door-to-door survey to identify genuine beneficiaries for pension.
GVMC Commissioner G Srijana, Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy, among others attended.
Development works
Earlier, the Tourism Minister laid foundation stone for a slew of development works in
Anandapuram mandal. These works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 3.1 crore in Chinna Venkatapalem, BC Kallalu, Kusuluwada and Gottipalli villages.
