Visakhapatnam: Exhibition on prevention mechanism against malaria

Visakhapatnam: As a part of the malaria prevention month programmes, the GVMC organised an exhibition on the prevention of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue.

It was hosted on Saturday at GVMC premises by the Malaria Department.

Officials explained how mosquitoes can develop within ten days from the egg stage, steps to prevent vector-borne diseases by keeping the surroundings clean and dry, among several other topics.

GVMC Commissioner G Srijana said the exhibition was held keeping the ensuing monsoon season in view. "Municipal corporation staff will conduct a door to door survey for a month to create awareness among the public about maintaining houses free from mosquito-breeding spots.

She said 300 teams 1,200 staff members will participate in the awareness programme. Biologist Pydi Raju, Additional Commissioners Thameem Ansaria and V Sanyasi Rao and Chief Medical and Health Officer K S L G Sastri participated.
