Visakhapatnam farmer families get 222.41 crore aid: M Srinivasa Rao

Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao has announced to promote agriculture-based industrial units in the district.

Distributing Rs 222.41 crore to 2.77 lakh farmer families under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the Minister announced that SEZ will be established to produce farm-related products in Madugula and Chodavaram constituencies.

Recalling Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's padayatra where he had personally seen the farmers' woes and thus announced to provide Rs 13,500 to each farmer family, the Minister said that the amount will be deposited in three instalments by Sankranti festival.

Srinivasa Rao promised to provide remunerative price to the farmers and compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the kin of the farmers who had committed suicide. One rig will be sanctioned to every constituency where borewell will be dug up for farmers who come forward, he stated.

He assured the farmers that all the projects taken up by the State government will be completed in a stipulated time.

The launch of the Rythu Bharosa scheme was attended by Joint Collector L Shiva Shankar, Chodavaram MLA Karanam Dharmasri, VMRDA Chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, MP B V Satyavathi, among others attended.

Later, Tourism Minister Srinivasa Rao laid foundation for a slew of development works taken up in the Visakhapatnam North constituency. He said that all the works pertaining to the constituency would be completed in a couple of months. Further, he added that the Chief Minister had already fulfilled 85% of poll promises.
