Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains lash city, low-lying areas inundated
Visakhapatnam: Several low-lying areas of Visakhapatnam were flooded due to heavy rains on Wednesday.
Traffic snarls were witnessed in various parts of the district, including Ukkunagaram, Gajuwaka, Convent junction, among others.
At Gnanapuram railway bridge, people had to wade through knee-deep water.
The entire road leading to the steel plant main gate was submerged.
A two-storey building at One Town area collapsed due to incessant rains.
However, no causality was reported.
Similarly, several houses in Gopalapatnam, Pendurti, Autonagar and One Town area were inundated.
In many parts of the city, the roads are swamped.
Footpath business came to a halt.
The commercial complexes remained closed in various neighbourhoods.
Heavy rains are likely to continue across the Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
