Visakhapatnam: Indian Navy – Bangladesh Navy bilateral exercise concludes

Visakhapatnam: The maiden Indian Navy – Bangladesh Navy (IN-BN) bilateral exercise successfully concluded with Eastern Fleet personnel bidding farewell to BN Ships Ali Haider and Shadhinota in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

The four-day harbour phase saw professional interaction, sharing best practices in the form of Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) lectures and visits to various facilities of the Indian Navy.

As a part of the harbour phase, BN Personnel Naval Dockyard, Naval Air Station INS Dega, submarine rescue unit, ship handling simulator and the integrated underwater harbour defence and surveillance system.

As a part of cross visits, BN personnel were given a guided tour of INS Ranvijay and personnel from Eastern Fleet visited BNS Ali Haider brief on role and capabilities of the ships were carried out. SMEE lectures on varied topics ranging from Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to aviation emergencies were undertaken as part of professional interaction. Apart from professional interactions, personnel from IN and BN participated in friendly sports fixtures during volleyball and football matches. Visits to TU 142 Aircraft Museum and Kursura submarine museums were organised for visiting BN personnel.

Bangladesh Navy delegation led by Cmde Sayed Mohammad Moniruzzaman, COMFLOT (West) along with Brigadier General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Defence Attache, Capt Mirza Ali Akbar Shirazi, Commanding Officer, BNS Shadhinota and Capt Kazi Shah Alam, Commanding Officer, BNS Ali Haider called on Flagged Officer Commanding in Chief Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain and discussed the importance of mutual cooperation and partnership on maritime security in Bay of Bengal region during the bilateral exercise.
