Visakhapatnam: Indian Navy's Mid-Year Refit Review meet begins

Officials participate in Indian Navy’s Mid-Year Refit Review (MYRR) and Mid-Year Infrastructure Review (MYIR) Conference at Headquarters of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

Visakhapatnam: Indian Navy's Mid-Year Refit Review (MYRR) and Mid-Year Infrastructure Review (MYIR) Conference was inaugurated at Headquarters of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on Monday.

The two-day conference was chaired by Chief of Material (COM) Vice-Admiral GS Pabby, Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defence (Navy) to assess the progress of refits of ships and submarines and infrastructure projects.

The review is being attended by a high-level delegation from Naval Headquarters, ENC, Andaman and Nicobar Command, Naval Dockyards, repair yards and material organisations from Visakhapatnam and Port Blair.

Delivering the inaugural keynote address at MYRR, the Chief of Material complimented all the stakeholders for ensuring quality refits of ships and submarines, with special attention to the safety of personnel and material.

He also lauded the stakeholders for ensuring continuous availability of all operational platforms and providing long-range support for implementation of the Act East policy of the government.

During the review, issues on timely completion of quality refits were discussed, with special emphasis on achieving synergy between maintenance and logistics functions to tide over budgetary constraints in meeting all operational commitments.

Mid-Year Infrastructure Review meeting will be held on September 24 to review modernisation and augmentation of repair/refitting infrastructure to ensure and enhance operational availability and combat readiness of assets of Indian Navy.
