Visakhapatnam : Mugger crocodile at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) laid around 10-15 eggs and they have hatched recently in Visakhapatnam.

Appreciating the dedicated efforts of the team of IGZP, curator of the zoo Nandani Salaria said the zoo has been actively involved in the conservation and breeding exercise among various other species. She mentioned that the IGZP aims to increase their population and ensure their survival for future generations.

Around 10-15 mugger crocodile eggs were discovered in the nesting area within the enclosure. The team of IGZP implemented necessary measures to ensure the successful incubation and hatching of the eggs under the care and observation of the animal keeper.

Over the course of several weeks, the curator, zoo staff, veterinary team, and animal keeper closely monitored the incubation process, regulating temperature and humidity levels within the nesting environment.

After completion of the incubation period, all the eggs have successfully hatched, and the hatchlings appear to be active and healthy. The conservation team will continue to provide round-the-clock care for the mugger crocodile hatchlings by monitoring their growth, nutrition, and overall well-being, while also providing essential medical attention when required.

Visitors to the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park will have the opportunity to witness these adorable hatchlings in the respective enclosure and can learn about the conservation efforts.
