Passengers warned against carrying firecrackers in trains
Visakhapatnam: As Diwali is fast approaching, Indian Railways is gearing up to prevent passengers from carrying firecrackers while onboard. Special squads have been formed to keep a strict vigil on those carrying inflammable products like firecrackers during train journey as it is strictly prohibited and violating it will lead to an imprisonment of up to three years.
The list of products that are prohibited from carrying in a train includes firecrackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol and kerosene, among others. Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has advised passengers to exercise caution while travelling and also discourage the co-passengers from carrying such prohibited items.
The railway staff appeals to the passengers to alert the concerned officials if they come across any such product during their journey. Passengers are requested to inform the railway staff like TTEs, coach attendants, guards, station managers, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police personnel if they find anyone violating the norms.
One can also register a complaint through security helpline 182. This apart, Waltair Division is also alerting the public through frequent announcements at the station to avoid carrying inflammables to ensure safety. Steps are also in place to make the train passengers to be aware of the dangers involved in carrying crackers and explosive devices.
