Visakhapatnam: People lend a hand to traffic streamlining exercise
Visakhapatnam : In a move to engage people, who volunteer to extend their support to streamline road traffic, the city police are utilising their services from Sheelanagar junction to Old Gajuwaka junction.
With a four-km-long stretch between the two junctions becoming an accident-prone zone, the city police are considering steps to control mishaps in the location by taking extra precautions. The stretch engaged the service of 15 persons to control the traffic and make it an accident-free zone.
Following the instructions of City Police Commissioner A Ravi Shankar, a special training was given to select volunteers on traffic regularisation.
Launching the endeavour in Visakhapatnam on Friday, the City Commissioner of Police mentioned that such system will be implemented in other accident-prone areas as well to bring down road accidents to a considerable extent.
The initiative was launched in the presence of Joint Commissioner of Police K Fakeerappa, DCP-II Sati Babu along with AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation representatives Pydah Krishna Prasad and Ch Srinath and A Leela Rani, among others.
