Visakhapatnam: Joint Commissioner, Estates wing, Endowments Department and member of the government-appointed committee Saleem Surya Chandrasekhar Azad on Monday began inquiry into unauthorised entry of persons during Chandanotsavam at Simhachalam Devasthanam.

The inquiry focused mainly on illegal buildings in Simhachalam Devasthanam lands, those who gained unauthorised entry into the temple during Chandanotsavam festival, long pending land dispute pertaining to Simhachalam and NSTL and illegal gravel excavation on the temple land.

On Chandanotsavam, about 20 persons allegedly gained unauthorised access to Nijaroopa darshan. The government ordered an inquiry into the issue. Similarly, there is no permission for any new construction on the temple land. However, in the recent days, it is learnt that new structures came up on the Devasthanam lands.

There were also complaints about illegal gravel excavations on the temple lands. Saleem Surya Chandrasekhar Azad visited Simhachalam and checked the CCTV footage. He also interacted with the temple staff and inquired with the authorities on various issues. He will submit a report to the government after the completion of the investigation.
