Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observed in port city

Visakhapatnam: In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, several organisations and institutes observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in the Port City on Thursday.

Waltair Division organised the 'Run for Unity' to mark the occasion. Officials, staff from several departments, sports persons, Scouts and Guides and Civil Defence personnel participated in the 'Run for Unity' held at the Beach Road.

Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava said that Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister of India and Union Home Minister of India, had helped people reaffirm the inherent strength and spirit of the nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.

RINL organised a 'Run for Unity' in connection with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the birth-anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Thursday. A good number of employees and children from schools of Ukkunagaram participated in the 'Run for Unity'. Director (Commercial), RINL, D K Mohanthy, flagged off the Run for Unity at the Col. C K Nayudu Ukku Stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohanty stated that all the RINL employees along with children should strive to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity and security of India. Mohanty administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to all the participants to mark the occasion.

Rastriya Ektha Diwas programme was organised at NCRC on Thursday by NSS, AUCE (A), Andhra University. Principal of AU College of Engineering (Autunomous) P. Srinivasa Rao presided over the programme and delivered a speech about Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

The NSS unit of Vignan's Institute of Information Technology (Autonomous), Duvvada in association with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) conducted essay writing and elocution competitions on Thursday at VIIT campus on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week. Later, the NSS Unit have commemorated National Day of Unity programme. With regard to the occasion a 2K Run for Unity was held at the campus.
