Visakhapatnam: Recycled Art Park to come up in city
Visakhapatnam: Incorporating recycled scrap, an exclusive Recycled Art Park is going to come up either at China Waltair or Madhurawada NH road near open space.
Proposed by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the park will be readied on an acre of land at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
From tiles to compound wall, fencing to seating arrangement and art installations, the park is going to incorporate recycled material in myriad forms.
"Except the plants, everything else at the park will be made incorporating recycled material such as glass, iron, rubber, plastic and bamboo sticks," explains Dr G Srijana, Municipal Commissioner.
With over 65 per cent of the recycled scrap used for the development of the unique park, materials made of construction and demolition (C&D) waste will also find a place in the facility.
On a trial basis, the Recycled Art Park will be developed in one particular location. "Depending on the response, we might plan for a similar park in a bigger area in future," elaborates the GVMC Commissioner.
haring further details with The Hans India, Assistant Director of Horticulture, GVMC, M Damodara Rao says, "Tenders have already been called for the Recycled Art Park. Once they shape up, work will gain pace and is expected to be completed in six months." In addition to the Recycled Art Park, the GVMC is planning to add art installations like seahorse, tree, flowers and giraffe, using recycled items at 10 junctions, including Beach Road and Siripuram in the city.
Work related to these art installations has already commenced and the corporation intends to wrap them up in a week. "These 10 junctions with art installations will serve as selfie points," adds the Municipal Commissioner.
