Visakhapatnam: Rushikonda Beach selected for development under Beams
New Delhi: Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javadekar here on Monday said that Rushikonda beach was selected under Beach Environment and Aesthetics Management services (Beams) initiated by the Centre to develop 13 beaches as per international standards.
Responding to a query by YSRCP MP V Vijayaasai Reddy in Rajya Sabha, the Minister said the main objective of the Beams project is to create beaches that attract tourists for eco-friendly beaches while preserving the ancient coastal environment. He said a total of 13 beaches in coastal States in the country had been identified for the project. Rushikonda beach in Andhra Pradesh is one of them. He said as a part of the development of beaches under the Beams project, Eco-friendly bio-toilets on the beach for tourists, modern bathrooms, refined drinking water, pathways, seating facilities, umbrellas, wooden chairs, children's playgrounds, fitness equipment, first aid station, clock room, beach parking, vehicle parking will be set up in all the beaches.
In addition to that, a waste management plant, the solar power plant, CCTV surveillance throughout the beach and also a water treatment plant will be set up in all the beaches.
Hesaid there are special guards for the safety of beach tourists. Along with these, lifeguards will also be set up with watchtowers and adequate security for protection.
