Visakhapatnam: Six persons belonging to two groups were arrested on the charge of cheating travel agencies and selling their cars with forged documents.

Fifty cars, estimated to cost over Rs 7 crore were recovered from them.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police R K Meena said that a gang of three – A Prasad, R Srinivasa Rao and S Sudarshan -- approached travel agencies and sought vehicles offering higher rent.

They were successful in convincing the travel agency owners that the cars would be engaged for MNCs and high-end clients. After paying rent for a couple of months, they allegedly sold the vehicles in East Godavari district with forged documents, said the CP.

Following the same modus operandi, another gang led by P Shanmukha Prasad sold over 20 cars, according to the CP.

It is learnt that Adapa Prasad gang sold 54 cars. More vehicles are yet to be recovered from the gang members.
