Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao pays surprise visit to airport

Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao paid a surprise visit to Visakhapatnam airport on Saturday and overviewed the precautionary measures in place at the premises.

After arriving at the airport, he suggested maintenance of a special register to collect the details of the travellers, those landing from foreign destinations in particular, in order to keep a track of those visiting Visakhapatnam from coronavirus-hit countries.

Further, he said that experts should be appointed to perform medical checkups at the airport. He appealed to travellers to cooperate with the doctors and the airport staff to complete the screening. Meanwhile, the Minister also went through the screening process. He urged people not to panic as the government has taken concrete measures to rise to the occasion to contain the virus spread.

Srinivasa Rao directed the District Medical and Health Officer S Tirupati Rao to increase staff strength and bring in doctors who had completed their post graduation at the airport for the screening of the passengers rather than those who completed MBBS.
