Visakhapatnam: TROPMET-2019 from today

Visakhapatnam: After a gap of over two decades, Andhra University is going to organise a national-level seminar on Tropical Meteorology (TROPMET) -2019 from December 11 to 14, said AU Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, the Vice-Chancellor shared details of the four-day seminar and mentioned that 13 delegates will be attending from other countries such as Japan, Thailand, Brazil, and Geneva.

The symposium will be inaugurated by Secretary of Ministry of Earth Sciences M Rajeevan. Director General of Meteorology M Mohapatra and Advisor of Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi Akilesh Gupta are expected to attend the event, he said.

The event will be hosted by the Department of Meteorology and Oceanography of AU in association with the Indian Meteorological Society, New Delhi. Symposium convener S.S.V.S. Ramakrishna said about 500 delegates from across the country and abroad are expected to participate in the event.

More than 100 students, scientists in the field of Meteorology and Oceanography from India and abroad will arrive for the symposium. There will be more than 260 presentations with 15 plenary talks and 10 invited talks. AU registrar V Krishna Mohan, among others participated.
