Visakhapatnam: Visakha Organic Mela draws huge crowds

Visakhapatnam: From farm-fresh vegetables to essential oils and assorted millets, a variety of products grown organically form a part of the three-day 'Visakha Organic Mela' that got underway at A S Raja Grounds here on Friday.

Farmers and entrepreneurs from across the district have put up 100 stalls at the venue. Visitors thronged the counters enquiring about the advantages of organic products displayed for the purpose.

Featured by the cow-based Nature Farmers Association, a number of scientists, experts and farmers are seen highlighting the need to lead a healthier life by consuming chemical-free food.

Fresh cauliflowers, drumsticks, brinjals, radish and other vegetables were flying off the shelves on the first day of the mela.

Entrepreneurs and farmers explain the advantages of consuming farm-fresh edible products and the need to switch to chemical-free vegetables for larger benefit of one's well-being.

Araku Natural Millets, high-grade stainless steel cookware that requires no oil or water while cooking, organic compost, green bin for organic composter, edible oils and herbs dot the grounds.

As part of the mela, food scientist Khader Vali will talk about 'Healthy eating through natural crops' and a dessert recipe contest will be held.

The inaugural saw a huge turnout of the health-conscious stuffing their shopping bags with organic products.

The three-day fair will be open at the grounds from 10 am to 10 pm till February 9.
