Visakhapatnam: VSEZ units contribute 32Lakhs to help migrant workers

Visakhapatnam: With a view to lend a helping hand to the district administration, the VSEZ units pooled up Rs 32.625 lakh to provide food to migrant workers and send them back to their native places according to VSEZ Development Commissioner A R M Reddy. The money was handed over to GVMC Commission on April 29.

The Central and State governments are continuously making all out efforts to control the pandemic and taking various measures to contain the spread of virus. Apart from it, the migrant workers remained stuck at various places, A R M Reddy said.

As part of efforts, a few more units Natco Pharma Ltd. and Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd contributed Rs 5 lakh for the cause and it was handed over to the District Collector.

This way, the total amount contributed to district administration for fighting Covid-19 is Rs 37.625 lakh, said A R M Reddy. He thanked all the units who contributed for the cause and further appealed to units to help the district administration. Then VSEZ has the capacity to make 3.1 crore face masks, 91 lakh PPEs and 1 lakh surgical gowns in 12 of its units spread in and around Visakhapatnam.
