Visakhapatnam: Water conservationist to visit North Andhra
Visakhapatnam: Rajendra Singh, a well-known water conservationist, will visit North Andhra region from June 29 to July 1, according to national convener of Rashtriya Jal Biradari (National Water Community) Bolesetti Satyanarayana. Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Satyanarayana said Rajendra Singh would interact with people during his tour and suggest concrete measures for water conservation and improvement of groundwater levels.
Former Union Secretary EAS Sarma, who was also present, expressed concern over plummeting groundwater levels. He pointed out that people of the region were facing severe water shortage as several water resources had dried up. Though efforts were made earlier to improve the situation, they failed to yield any desired results, he pointed out.
