Visakhapatnam:10 teams take part in 39th All India Major Ports Cricket tourney

Visakhapatnam: The 39th All India Major Ports Cricket Championship for the year 2019-20 was hosted by Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) under the guidance of Major Port Sports Control Board.

VPT Chairman K Ramamohana Rao inaugurated the championship on Monday at Diamond Jubilee Outdoor Stadium. Deputy Chairman and president VPSC P L Haranadh, secretary and member MPSCB Harichandran, among other employees were present at the stadium.

The VPT Chairman met all the 10 teams and wished them the best. Later, the chairman and deputy chairman played cricket formally. The first match was held between Visakhapatnam Port Trust and Chennai Port team in which VPT won the match.

Addressing the gathering, Ramohana Rao informed that sports help in maintaining good health and promoting healthy competition among players. The second match was between Kolkata and Tuticorin ports wherein former won the match. In railway grounds, Paradeep and Cochin ports vied with one another in which Paradeep port won the match. Similarly, Mumbai port stood first in a match held between Kandla and Mumbai ports.
