Vishnu Manchu Foundation conducts wood sculptures carving camp in Tirupati

Tirupati: To bring out the talent of artisans Vishnu Manchu Art Foundation has been organising wood sculptures carving camp with more than 40 artisans, said film actor Manchu Vishnu at their Sri Vidyanikethan campus on Friday.

Addressing the media persons, he said that the Foundation has been conducting painting camp with various artists in Vidyanikethan campus. Other than that, for the first time, they are conducting a residential camp for wood carving artisans from November 5 to 20, Vishnu said.

Manchu Art Foundation has come forward to conduct this residential camp and providing all the amenities to artisans to make wood sculptures, he said.Vishnu said that the camp is being organised to create awareness among the students of the institution on wood carving art.

London based Radha Binod Sharma, curator of the wood carving residential camp, lauded the efforts of the Foundation for encouraging wood carving.Later, they interacted with about 40 renowned artisans who are participating in the residential camp for carving wood sculptures.

Artisans from Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Gujarat, AP, Karnataka, Delhi and Hyderabad participated in the camp. They are carving various art forms including Lord Balaji and noted film actor Mohan Babu besides others.

After completion of carving work all the sculptures will be displayed in Sri Vidyanikethan library hall for viewing. Artisans are using red sander and teak wood for carving different sculptures. Famous Sirkalahasti Kalankari art painter Ramesh Gorjala also was present.
