VIT-AP summer sports camp concludes

Vijayawada: A summer sports camp for school students organised by VIT-AP University, Amaravati inaugurated by Vice-president Sankar Viswanathan concluded here. He said that the free camp was started in 2018 with 458 students and this year with 552 students. Over these two years, 1,320 school students were benefited through this camp. Summer sports camp will benefit students in adopted villages of Inavolu, Sakhamuru, Velagapudi, he said.

VIT-AP University Department of Physical Education conducted summer sports training camp from April 25 to May 4. Experts in the fields of basketball, athletics, karate, football, volleyball, throw ball, badminton and yoga trained the students in their respective sports.

Pointing out that a sound mind in a sound body is important, the chief guest Musunuri Rohit Lalith Babu, Chess Grand Master & Common Wealth Games Gold Medalist in his valedictory address exhorted the youth to exercise daily as it is equally important as education.

It not only helps the body but the mind too. "We have to allot at least two hours daily to play and exercise to keep our body healthy," he said.Vice-Chancellor Dr D Subhakar, Registrar Dr CLV Sivakumar, Physical director Dr D Kalidoss and others were present.
