Vizag airport stands in third place in country

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Airport stood in third place among 34 airports across the country in the category of 1.5-5 million passenger footfalls. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) engaged a third party Quality Council of India (QCI) to conduct an independent assessment of 34 airports on terminal building services and facilities along with assessment of airside safety parameters.

The QCI conducted the assessment on December 11, 2018, and the Visakhapatnam Airport stood in the third place.The airports were assessed area-wise with the pre-defined parameters including trolley management, navigation/signage facility, solid waste management, car parking, traffic management, airside management, among others, ensuring that the process was independent and unbiased.

The parameters were then extracted from the on-ground assessment and evaluated. The data analysed was further compiled to understand the airports performance on different parameters, allocating weightages to obtain the final results in the assessment.
