1.08 lakh families to benefit under housing scheme

Vizianagaram: The district administration has made all arrangements for distribution of house site pattas and houses on the occasion of Christmas festival. One cent of land for every poor family in urban areas and one-and-half cent of land in rural areas will be distributed.

Around 1.08 lakh families in the district will be benefitted under the housing scheme and 1,830.82 acres of land was allotted to these house plots. Around 1,164 housing layouts are developed and 71,249 beneficiaries are accommodated in these layouts. 8,048 families will get houses under TIDCO scheme and 25,274 families, who are living in government lands, will be given possession certificates too.

The district administration spent Rs 228 crore to purchase lands for these housing layouts. The beneficiaries will be given Rs 1.80 lakhs to construct houses. After launching of the programme statewide at Kakinada by the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on the Christmas Day, the district administration will start the disbursement of pattas to beneficiaries in the district.

The layouts are developed on par with private layouts with all amenities. Housing Corporation project director S V Ramana Murthy said the corporation developed largest layout in Gunkalam with 12,301 plots and provided all basic facilities. "We are waiting for arrival of the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on December 30 to distribute the house pattas and homes to the beneficiaries," he said.
