Vizianagaram: 2,161 polling officers deployed for civic polls

Vizianagaram: The district administration is making elaborate arrangements for conducting the local body elections in a free and fair manner, stated Collector M Harijawaharlal while addressing media over the arrangements.

He said that training session for Mandal Zilla Parishad elections would begin on March 16 and for municipal elections, the training would begin on March 18.

He said tight security would be deployed in vulnerable places to prevent violence. For ZPTC elections, 1,879 poling stations were arranged and 2,161 polling officers and assistant polling officers would be deployed, he said and added for municipal elections in Vizianagaram corporation, Parvathipuram, Salur, Bobbili municipalities and Nellimarla Nagara Panchayat, around 376 poling centers were established and 427 poling officers and same number of assistant polling officers were appointed. For Grama panchayats, 9,102 poling centers have been established and 10,011 piling officers and same number of assistant poling officers would be deployed.
