Vizianagaram: The district administration has formed a religious harmony committee to maintain good relations among the people of all religions and to prevent unwanted incidents. On Saturday, Collector M Hari Jawaharlal said that delegates from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain and Christian religions were inducted into the committee and the members would tour across the district and conduct meetings at constituency level to sensitise the public on several issues.

The committee would monitor the religious functions and direct the people concerned to promote peace in the society. The committee would coordinate with police, revenue and other departments to maintain healthy atmosphere in the society. "We have installed CC cameras at 928 temples since September to monitor every movement there," the Collector said.

The investigation into Ramatheertham incident was in progress and details would be revealed soon, he added. Later, the Collector announced the committee. District Collector Hari Jawaharlal would be the chairman of the committee and SP B Rajakumari the vice-chairperson. Joint Collector G C Kishore is the convenor.

P Sampat Kumaracharya, S K Ansar Jane Moujan, Lurthu Marneni, Praveen Kumar, Babaji Jasweer Singh and Sunil Kumar Jain are the members. Assistant Commissioner of Endowments and District Revenue Officer will also be the members in the committee.
