Vizianagaram Collector M Hari Jawaharlal calls on people to protect water bodies
Kurupam(Vizianagaram): District Collector M Hari Jawaharlal on Wednesday visited agency villages under Kurupam and G L Puram mandals of Vizianagaram district on Wednesday.
Interacting with tribal farmers, the Collector advised the farmers to protect water bodies like streams and tanks. He also visited Mantrajola village of Kurupam along with D Parinaidu, an environmental activist and inspected a water tank dug in private land to provide water to the lands there.
Later he spoke to the people and said that health, education should be top priorities and every child should go to school to help transform fortunes of their families. Natural faming is the best way to improve the health of the soil, water and people. He listed out 51 villages where 100 per cent natural faming is being carried out and appreciated the farmers for doing a wonderful practice.
Later he laid foundation stone for Prakruthi Matha temple here and visited a millets bakery run by the tribal people. He inquired how the cakes, biscuits are being made with jowar, cocktail millets, ragi flour.
The Collector tried his hand at harvesting in a paddy field. He also visited a remote village Gorada under G L Puram mandal and laid foundation a stone for library. Parinaidu said that efforts are being made to convert huge number of villages into chemical-free habitations. Sub-Collector T S Chetan, DPM K Prakash, JDA M Ashadevi, JDA B Nagabhushana Rao and others were present.
