Vizianagaram district wins SKOCH awards

Vizianagaram: The district administration was recognised as best performer in containing coronavirus and in water conservation, besides in manging a hostel for pregnant women and thus reducing infant and maternal mortality rate.

An organization SKOCH has organized a virtual programme from Delhi and announced the awards for the district.

The district got gold medal for water conservation and desilting of water tanks and plantation on the bunds of the various tanks.

Three bronze medals were announced for taking strict measures to contain the spread of coronavirus and providing meals at Rs 10 to those attending Spandana programme. The administration established a hostel for pregnant women at Salur for tribal women.

Speaking on the occasion, District Collector M Hari Jawaharlal said the administration is making all efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Joint Collector G C Kishore Kumar, DRO J Venkata Rao and others congratulated the Collector.
