Vizianagaram: Highlight social distance to curb Covid-19 says DGP Gowtham Sawang

Vizianagaram: Director General of Police Gowtham Sawang on Sunday praised the role of police personnel in curbing coronavirus.

Inspecting the district police office for first time here, the DGP said due to strict measures implemented by the police, the virus was prevented from further spreading.

"Our role is to controlling the public movement and ensuring strict measures to implement the lockdown. We should put all our efforts to save the society from corona," he said.

He appreciated the police staff for keeping the district in green zone for a long time.

Police should consider this as service and not as a job, he said and suggested the police to maintain the same commitment and strict measures till the end of the coronavirus.

He advised the cops to create awareness among the public on maintaining social distance to prevent the spread of virus.

He instructed the SPs to not deploy those police who crossed 55 years of age for duties in containment zones as they are vulnerable to virus.

He also asked the police to take more care on elder persons, women and physically challenged.

The DGP later presented merit certificates to the police staff who showed outstanding performance in their duties. DIG LKV Ranga Rao and SP B Rajakumari participated in the programme.
