Vijayawada Municipal Corporation achieved all-round development in TDP rule: Mayor

Vijayawada: City Mayor Koneru Sridhar on Monday said the city achieved all-round development under the TDP rule and financial burden also reduced in the last five years. Speaking to media at his chambers to mark the end of five-year TDP rule in the city, the Mayor listed out the achievements of corporation and recalled the civic body could not pay salaries to staff for several months due to financial crunch under the TDP rule in 2014.

He said now, the VMC was paying salaries to staff on the first of every month due to efforts made by the TDP rulers to improve financial condition of civic body. He said the civic body has convinced the TDP government to pay salaries under the 010 head and hoped it will help the VMC to come out of financial woes. He said former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu agreed to pay salaries to VMC staff under the 010 head and issued orders in this regard.

He reminded the VMC successfully conducted Krishna Pushkaralu and executed many development works.

Referring to education, he said the VMC schools achieved excellent results and 26 VMC schools' children got 10/10 GPA points in SSC public examinations. He said the Opposition YCP corporators have levelled false allegation on ruling TDP on the development of the city.
