Volunteer jobs command huge demand in Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram: The youth in villages and towns are busy trying to get village volunteer jobs which are going to be recruited by 15th August. The AP government is going to recruit 4.33 lakh volunteers in villages and in towns shortly. Th Vizianagaram district has 10,853 volunteer jobs in villages and 1,172 in four municipalities. Around 40,000 candidates have applied and the interviews are under progress.

Each volunteer deals with 50 families and it is not a regular job. However, even the post-graduates and engineering graduates are also applying for the posts which indicates the intensity of unemployment prevailing in the state.

The jobs have high demand and most of the candidates are roaming around the politicians, to get the support of YSRCP leaders. Mandal, village level leaders are playing key role in selecting the volunteer candidates. In rural areas, Intermediate is the eligible qualification and in tribal areas SSC (10th Class) is needed. But even post graduates, MBAs , B Tech candidates are also trying for these jobs.

K Srinivas of Vizianagaram, an M.Com candidate appeared for this interview and said, ``Of course, it's a small job and it is not suitable for my qualification, but I have no other job opportunity now, so I am trying for the job through a local leader. Later, I will try for another job. This salary amount of Rs.5000 will be helpful for my family.'' Now the every unemployed is trying to get the help from local leaders to secure the jobs.
