Voter awareness session for fishers held

Ongole: As part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation Programme (SVEEP), the Prakasam district nodal officer organised awareness programmes for the voters from fishermen community at their hamlet at Gundayapalem in Kothapatnam mandal on Friday evening.

As part of the SVEEP programme, the nodal officer Dr B Ravi explained the fishermen and women voters that every voter should utilise their right to vote it in the elections without fail. The officials made them play snakes and ladder game to explain them easily on ethical voting. He advised them to vote for the best candidate without being influenced for any reason.

He explained the functioning of the electronic voting machines (EVMs), voter-verified paper audit trails (VVPATs) to the people and asked them to try on the demo machines. The fishermen and women participated in the programme with much interest and asked questions about the voting process, EVMs and VVPATs and thanked the officials for reaching to them.
