Voters stage protest over poor security
Vijayawada: The voters in Nandigama of Krishna district on Thursday staged a protest as the election authorities did not provide proper security arrangements at the polling booths for the smooth conduct of elections.
The voters said that the election authorities did not take proper measures to deploy security personnel at the polling booths which was paving way for disturbance among the contestants while the voters casting their vote.
They said that only two security men were on duty at each polling booth across the mandal. The women were facing problems as there was not enough security to maintain queue.
Due to insufficient police and CRPF personnel, party activists canvassed the polling booths creating disturbance. The voters appealed to the election officers to look into the issue and take steps for smooth functioning of the voting.
