VRO lands in ACB net in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a village revenue officer (VRO) at Kotturu mandal tahsildar's office on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for changing name in revenue records.

According to Srikakulam ACB DSP BVSS Ramana Murthy, M M Sundara Rao working as Neradi VRO in Kotturu mandal, demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe from Savara Sayamma of Metturuguda village to mutate her name in revenue records for 1.80 acres extent of land in Neradi cluster.

Sayamma agreed to pay Rs 10,000 as advance. Later, vexed with the attitude of VRO, Sayamma lodged a complaint with ACB officials. Acting on tip-off, the ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Sundara Rao while accepting Rs 10,000 as advance.

The ACB officials will produce the accused before special court magistrate for trial of ACB cases at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
