Weather update: AP to witness heavy rains for yet another two days
The Amaravati Meteorological Department has forecasted moderate rains for another two days in Andhra Pradesh. The surface periodicity extends from the Komarin to the southwestern central Bay of Bengal along the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, officials said. As it is 1.5 km above sea level, thundershowers are likely in many parts of the south Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema today and tomorrow. Also, east winds are blowing from the Komarin region to the Andaman Sea.
Meanwhile, Nellore and Tirupati received heavy rains on Monday due to the impact of the surface trough. Apart from Chittoor, Kadapa district is also receiving rains. The inland areas were inundated. On the other hand, heavy rains inundated the Somasila reservoir in Nellore district due to heavy rains. It is possible to lift the reservoir gates at any moment. Authorities alerted the people of the Penna river basin.
In the last 24 hours, Tirupati received 15 cm of rain followed by 9 cm in Gudur and Kavali, 8 in Palamaneru, 7 cm in Raipur, Kandukur, Udayagiri and Satyavedu, 6 cm in Srikalahasti, 5 cm in Nellore, Thottambedu, 5 in Atluru, Venkatagiri fort, Avanigadda, Atmakuru, Venkatagiri, Machilipatnam, Badvelu, 4 cm in Koduru, Penang.
