Will make Nandyal a district: CM
Kadapa/Kurnool/Nandyal: With just 15 days left for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh, accusations and counter-accusations are assuming new dimensions during electioneering by various political parties.
Addressing road shows in Nandyal along with National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that there has been a demand to make Nandyal a district. He said the TDP after assuming power this time would carve a new district with Nandyal as district headquarters. He also promised to upgrade the present agriculture college into a university with a specialisation in seed research.
Responding to a demand from MLA candidate Brahmananda Reddy, Naidu said his government would also sanction a degree college and a fly-over in the town. Calling upon the people to realise the "conspiracy" that was going on to destabilise Andhra Pradesh and derail the "process of development," Naidu said there are three partners who joined hands to see that the state remained backward forever. He said they found the YSRCP as the most pliable party to execute their mission. The relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP and YSRCP was that of husband and wife, he said.
Throwing an open challenge to Modi, YSRCP and TRS, the TDP chief said the conspiracy against the people of Andhra Pradesh had once again been exposed since Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said KCR had supported the special category status to AP while the fact is that the BJP had categorically stated in Parliament that it would not give and KCR and TRS leaders, including K Kavitha, openly opposed the SCS demand by Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu further said Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated in Vijayawada on Tuesday that the YSRCP is an ally of the BJP. This clearly exposes the nexus between Modi, KCR and Jagan, he added.Naidu said it was time for the people to fight against the forces which had waged a war against the pride of Andhra Pradesh and give a befitting reply to them. He said till the last drop of his blood he will not allow such forces to have their way. Naidu said he had never implemented any welfare schemes on the basis of caste or community.
In next five years, the TDP chief said the state would progress much faster and Nandyal would become a better city than Hyderabad. He called upon the people not to accept money that the YSRCP would be distributing and prove that self-respect is more important for them. He also said that the Centre was resorting to harassment of TDP candidates. In the meantime, there were reports that the Income Tax department on Tuesday conducted surprise raids on the Amaravati Medical Institute owned by Ugranarsimha Reddy, TDP candidate from Kanigiri constituency in Prakasam district.
Naidu said that many more such raids could be expected and called upon the rank and file of the party not to get discouraged by such tactics. The National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah made sensational comment against Jagan. He said Jagan had approached him in the past to negotiate on his behalf with the Congress and make him the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. In return, he said he would give Rs 1500 crore to the Congress.
He appealed to the people to defeat such forces. According to the TDP, many more national leaders would be visiting the state. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would address meetings along with Naidu on March 28. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would participate in two meetings at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam on March 29.
