Women dominate men in exercising vote
Tirupati: It is interesting to note that women dominated men in exercising the voting right in the election held on Thursday for Parliament and Assembly constituencies in Chittoor district. According to official sources, a total of 12,80.461 men cast their votes against 13,00.659 women in the district.
The district has total electorate of 31,83,187 in which men voters 15,77,116 and women 16,05,734. In the polling held on Thursday the turnout of women is more in 10 constituencies while men only in three constituencies.
The constituencies where women outnumbered men in voting include Puthalapattu, Chittoor, Nagari, Satyavedu, Srikalahasti, Chandragiri, Tirupati, Punganur, Madanapalle and Piler leaving only four constituencies where men voters are more than women including Palamaner, Kuppam, GD Nellore and Thamballapalle.
