Tirupati: A three-day workshop on routine immunisation has begun in Chittoor on Monday.

Additional District Medical and Health Officer (AIDS & Leprosy) Dr C Aruna Sulochana Devi organised the programme and said that it will be held in four batches for all the medical officers of PHCs in the district.

The aim of the workshop was to ensure 100 percent vaccination to all 0-5 years age children in their respective PHCs, she said and instructed that every medical officer should be thoroughly aware of the national vaccination schedule and prepare a micro-level action plan to provide vaccination at outreach areas on every Wednesday and Saturday.

Additional DMHO has directed the medical officers to review the progress of vaccination once in every week by meeting with all the staff concerned. The doctors should be aware of safe immunisation and have a special action plan to cover high risk areas and uncovered areas, she mentioned.

District Immunisation Officer Dr Hanumantha Rao informed the doctors to send indent for their vaccine requirement well in advance. "Medical officers should prevent vaccine preventable diseases through special drives," he urged. Training of Trainers (ToT) Dr Janaki Rao, Surveillance Medical Officer of World Health Organisation Dr Pavan Kumar, Dr Ramesh Babu, Dr Kalyan Kumar, Dr Nirmalamma and others took part in the programme.
