Visakhapatnam: Paryavarana Margadarsi Vaisakhi and Green Climate team founder conducted a workshop on making of clay Ganesha idols in A S Raja Mahila Junior College on Friday.

These clay idols were prepared with seeds of 21 varieties of medicinal plants and after the celebrations, the idols can be immersed in a pot or garden.

Besides, the idols which are made with plaster of paris are harmful to environment and water resources, "The idols made of plaster of paris contain metals like gypsum, sulphur, phosphorous, magnesium and artificial colors contain mercury, lead, cadmium and carbon," said PMV secretary J Rajeswari. According to them holding on to eco- friendly methods is the safest way to celebrate the festivities.
