Workshop on paper microfluidics devices held Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala
Vijayawada: The department of Bio-Chemistry, Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised a workshop on 'Point of Care Rapid Diagnostics Through Paper Microfluidics Devices' on the college premises on Saturday. Chief guest of the workshop was Neemaraja Beaulah, R&D executive at Pragathi Offset Private Limited.
Beaulah explained the students about Paper Microfluidics devices, their usages and impotence in diagnostics by using some qualitative reagents. She also explained the advantages of the paper microfluidics devices which are easily available and requires small quantities of chemicals and available at low cost. The result of it is also obtained within a short period of time. These devices are useful in the identification of samples in the laboratories qualitatively, she said.
She further demonstrated the qualitative tests of some bio-molecules like carbohydrates and amino acids by these paper Microfluidic devices. She also demonstrated the identification of blood groups by using these paper Microfluidic devices. College director Dr T Vijayalakshmi, principal Dr M Nalini, Bio-Chemistry HoD A Harika, A Madhuri, faculty, students and others were present.
