World Health Day celebrated
Tirupati: World Health Day programmes were organised at various places in the district on Sunday. District Medical and Health Department has organised a programme in Chittoor while Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) organised another programme in their campus.
Speaking on the occasion the DM&HO Dr B Ramagiddaiah said that the day was being celebrated this year with the theme "Universal Health Coverage – Every one Every Where" which has to be taken out to every part of the district.
The aim was to provide complete health to all people and they should know where they can get best possible medical services, said the DM&HO. The department staff should enlighten the people of various government health schemes and see that they should not bear the burden of treatment.
Dr Hamsavardhini, Dr Sudarshan, Dr Lavanya, Dr Nirmalamma and others also spoke on the occasion. In a separate programme, SVIMS Director cum Vice-Chancellor Dr TS Ravikumar and members of TRUE (Total Rural and Urban Empowerment) have distributed fruits and buttermilk packets to patients at different wards.
On this occasion, Dr Ravikumar said that, TRUE was attracted towards the initiatives of Pink Bus and other awareness programmes aimed at controlling cancer and other non-communicable diseases. President of TRUE GV Juhi Reddy, Vice President V Namratha, Dr V Venkata Ramireddy, Sudarshan, V Raja Sekhar, Prasad Reddy, Suresh Kumar and others took part.
