Yarada beach to get facelift soon in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: A detailed project report is being readied to develop Yarada Beach and hills as a major tourist spot, said VMRDA Chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao here on Friday.

Flagging off a 5K tourism run to mark the World Tourism Day at Kali Mata temple, RK Beach, he said Visakhapatnam along with Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, where the VMRDA region is spread across will be developed into a tourism hub.

"The 13 acres of land on Yarada hills will be developed as an attractive tourist spot and plans are being readied. While Mudasarlova will be developed with Rs 19 crore in the first phase and beach modernisation will be taken up at a cost of Rs 35 crore," Srinivasa Rao informed.

Visakhapatnam having a historical and cultural significance, it will be developed, keeping pace with the traditional values of the city, the VMRDA Chairman stated. Everyone belonging to Visakha region should give their due to develop the tourist potential of the city.

Development of tourism will also reduce stress and make the denizens active. Joint Collector L Shiva Shankar said the city was endowed with many tourist attractions. "This is the only sector having many opportunities to provide employment to common people," he stated. Regional Director, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Visakhapatnam, J Radhakrishna Murthy explained various packages being developed.
