Yarlagadda praises YSR for efforts to promote Telugu as classical language
Kakinada: State Officials Language Commission Chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad on Saturday lauded the services of late Chief Minister YSRajasekhara Reddy. YSR had strived to ensure that the Telugu language attained classical language status.
Releasing a book, 'The Literary History of East Godavari,' here on Saturday, Lakshmi Prasad said YSR had made relentless efforts to promote Telugu language at the national level as well as in globally. Now Chief Minister YSJagan Mohan Reddy would set up Telugu Literary Association in every district soon. Eminent Telugu poets and writers would be felicitated.
Competitions would be held on Telugu literature. He praised the services of the noted academician PChiranjeevini Kumari for promoting Telugu literature. Agriculture Minister KKannababu said the Kakinada Beach Festival is aimed at encouraging the local traditional arts and artistes. But, for past five years, the Kakinada Beach Festival theme had been changed.
The MLC IVenkateswara Rao stressed the need for holding a debate in Legislative Council on development of Telugu Literature. Kakinada MP Vanga Githa said the academician Chiranjeevini Kumari rendered great service for Telugu literature.
