CM dedicates tunnels of Veligonda project to nation

Dornala: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dedicated the two tunnels of the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda project and its reservoir, Nallamala Sagar, to the nation by inaugurating a pylon in a ceremony held at Kotturu, the project site in Dornala mandal of Yerragondapalem assembly constituency on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he is thanking the god almighty for giving him a chance to witness the moment of realizing the decades-long dream of the public. He said that the PS Veligonda project would address the drinking water needs of 15.25 lakh people and the irrigation requirement of 4.47 lakh acres of fields in the 30 mandals of Prakasam, Nellore and Kadapa districts.

He said that it was written by the god to lay the foundation of the project by his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and dedicate it to the nation by completing major works by him, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said that by the Kharif season in the July and August months, the flood water from the Srisailam project would be drawn on gravity through tunnels into the project reservoir, the Nallamala Sagar. By then, he assured that the land acquisition and Rehabilitation & Resettlement packages, worth Rs 1200 crores, would be distributed to the ousters and owners of land, in 2 or 3 months, his next tenure as the chief minister.

He requested the public and farmers to vote for the YSR Congress Party candidates in the district, including Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar from Yerragondapalem, Anna Rambabu from Markapuram, Kunduru Nagarjuna Reddy from Giddalur, Buchepalli Sivaprasad Reddy from Darsi, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy as MLA candidate and Chevieddy Bhaskara Reddy as MP candidate from Ongole, along with others.
