YS Jagan enraged over a section of media for spreading lies on Old age pension scheme
The issue of pensions has been hotly debated in Andhra Pradesh Assembly for last two days. The Chief Minister gave clarity in the House after the speech of TDP member Ramanaidu in the house on Thursday. Also on Friday, after the TDP members were suspended, once again, the CM raised the same issue and was incensed over some news channels for publishing untruths even though the video clips were played in the house regarding pensions. He alleged that some channels were working to save Chandrababu.
On January 25, 2019, the pension was increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 4 months before the elections, 6 lakh people were given pensions. When they came to power, they were giving pensions to 60 lakh people. If they spent Rs 1,500 crore, Chandrababu spent only Rs 500 crore.
Chief Minister YS Jagan has said that the facts regarding pensions are not visible to some channels and once again given clarity on the increase of pensions. He said that the pension will be increased from Rs 2,250 to Rs 2,500 by next July 8 followed by Rs 2,750 on July 8, 2022 and Rs. 3,000 in July 8, 2023. "During the election, even in the manifesto, it was said that pensions could be increased and we are fulfilling the promise given," YS Jagan said.
He alleged Naidu of sending their party members to the podium and creating chaos. He was outraged that he was deliberately leading speaker to suspend them from the house and giving interviews to some media channels to spread lies.
