YS Jagan launches housing scheme in AP, says it will benefit one crore people in the state

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he had witnessed the plight of the homeless poor during the Padayatra and that was the reason for initiating the distribution of such large scale house site pattas. CM Jagan said the distribution of house site pattas was in line with the promise made in the manifesto that the dream of owning a home for the poor would be fulfilled. As part of this, CM Jagan formally inaugurated the distribution of house site pattas in Komaragiri in East Godavari district on Friday. He later said that under the first phase of construction of more than 15 lakh houses under the scheme, more than 28 lakh houses would be completed free of cost in two phases. The distribution of pattas will be carried out in 175 constituencies for 15 days from today. He said more than 30 lakh beneficiaries across the state would be given house deeds. He said he was happy to launch the house site pattas distribution program on Vaikunta Ekadashi and Christmas.

Speaking after the lauch of the program, CM YS Jagan said that he had witnessed the plight of the poor during the Padayatra and had witnessed the plight of the homeless. He commented that the selection of beneficiaries was done irrespective of caste, creed and political affiliation. He said that the previous government had started construction of houses as a prelude to the elections and our government was going to build new villages.

YS Jagan further in his speech said that the sale agreements would be given for 2.62 lakh TIDCO homes across the state. He said that the construction of houses will benefit over one crore people in 17,000 new YSR Jagananna colonies. The drinking water, roads, drainage and electricity will be provided n the new colonies. Also it was decided to set up parks, community halls, village clinics and Anganwadis in the colonies.

Jagan expressed anguish over some of them who moved court to stall the program. He said that they will register the documents in the name of the beneficiaries as soon as the court barriers are removed. He said that political malice is the reason for the delay in the distribution of house site pattas.
